Backup Architecture

Veeam Cloud Connect integrates hosted backup cloud repositories directly into the Veeam backup console. Here’s how it works:

• The customer simply clicks “Add Service Provider” and enters the credentials that EDSI provides
• EDSI’s cloud repositories appear in your backup infrastructure

That’s it! There’s no VPN or separate console. Cloud repositories are available even if your primary backup or data center is lost.

Through EDSI's V//Extreme, you can leverage Veeam’s modern backup technology, which includes:

• Backup copy jobs with built-in WAN Acceleration
• Forever incremental backups
• GFS (grandfather-father-son) retention policies and more — all built into one product

With Veeam Cloud Connect, the connection will happen directly over the internet using a single TCP port protected by SSL encryption. All data is protected with SSL, “Data Encryption at Rest” and customers who need additional levels of security can encrypt data at the source before it leaves their network perimeter. All EDSI needs to get started is the DNS name to reach the service over the internet using a single TCP port protected by SSL encryption.

Veeam Backup & Replication™ will connect to the Cloud Gateways at EDSI. Once the new repository is added to the console, it can be used just like a regular backup repository for any backup or backup copy job, and perform restore operations. The final result will be an end-to-end encryption solution, from your company’s site, through the internet, up to the final Cloud Repository.
