Recognizing the need for companies to more effectively manage and protect their data, we are pleased to announce the availability of DataManager2020, powered by EDSI. The UNIX Migrator and Windows Data Manager are now part of DataManager2020.
Formerly known as UNIX Migrator, DataManager2020 provides replication software to continuously move files between two endpoints to a central site. By doing so, our complete data management toolkit can provide real-time protection for Windows, SAM-FS and Oracle HSM file systems.
DataManager2020 provides users the ability to:
- Throttle CPU, bandwidth and disk I/O across all services
- Increase or decrease resource usage during specific time periods of the day
- Compress and encrypt file data during transmission
- Increase performance over WAN links by bundling data and transmission on a directory basis instead of a file basis
- Monitor and manage system operations across multiple sites from a single location using the web management portal
Four Modules Provide Sweeping Capabilities
As a complete data management tool, DataManager2020 includes four modules with the following capabilities:
- Protect: With DataManager2020 you can set policies that control the number of copies of your data, the frequency with which they are made, and target medium. Capabilities include high-speed file system scanning using EDSI’s unique technology, and the ability to calculate and verify check sums to protect against bit rot.
- Archive: Seamlessly move your data to an archive server and automatically recall the file when it is accessed without the need for user intervention. You can automatically manage free space on a volume by moving unused files to archive storage. DataManager2020 limits archive activity to specific locations, file types and file sizes as well as last accessed and last-modified date.
- Migrate: DataManager2020 provides the capability to move one storage device to another and automates high-speed continuous copy with options to pause or throttle during production hours. It also provides detailed error reporting and automated error retry and automated tape migration for Oracle HSM.
- Analyze: With DataManager2020, you can capture file metadata in a database for simple analysis. DataManager2020 reports and manages files based on metadata queries and has capabilities to search, stage or transfer files related to specific metadata, such as location pathology and project.
